Swensen's

Location: Causeway Point

Food: Western food and of course, ice cream. My favourite is the Chocolate Crunch. Very fattening but very yummy. The baked rice that hubby had was too 'muak' for me. Too cheesy I guess...Their special for that month was Chilli Crab with pasta. On the menu, it looks so red and so delicious. The actual food was a disappointment though...

Spice N Chix (Would be nicer if the chicken strips were thinner and crunchier)

Staff: The staff here is good (better that other outlet, bad attitude)but there were trainee staff who was not sure about our query and instead of asking his colleagues, he just told us cannot. When we asked another colleague, the guy said yes, of course.

Verdict: Would eat the food only if too hungry. The ice cream is fine though.

Fun with water

Venue: Splash Park

Location: Sembawang Shopping Centre

Mia just love playing here. Most of the time, she will just play at the dry playground but only on certain days would we allow her to play at the wet playground. Perfect activity for a hot day.

Ayam Penyet Ria

Location: Square 2, Basement 1 (Next to Novena Square)

Food: They have several branches but we love eating at this branch. Have yet to try the other branches. Personally, of all the nasi ayam penyet that I have tried, this is so far the best. I guess the sambal belacan is what makes me keep coming back.

Staff: The staff is always friendly and most of them are Indonesian. They are prompt like when you ask for extra chilli.

Verdict: Definitely recommended especially for those who love sambal belacan.

Eatzi Steakhouse and Bistro

Location: Safra Yishun

Food: They serve western food here as well as asian cuisine. Of course, for Asian cuisine, the hawker food is better. But for the western food, the meat is tender but would definitely taste better if they had some sauce like mushroom or BBQ. The mixed grill that we bought do not have it. But we absolutely love the baked potato with creme and bits of turkey bacon sprinkled on it. Yummy!

Staff: Ok, no problems. They are attentive and it's not hard to get their attention for more orders or to get the desserts.

Verdict: Nice ambience, nice food.

Takara grill seafood

Location: Newton Circus Food Centre

Food: Have been eating at this stall since forever. Just love the sambal pari. Somehow, the other stalls' sambal do not appeal to our taste. Also love the chicken. Tender and not too dry.

Pari bakar and kangkong belacan

Liverpool Fried Chicken

Staff: Abang Liverpool (who takes orders) has seen as dating, just married, pregnant, with one kid, pregnant again, and now with two kids, hahaha.

Verdict: Recommended. Especially if the craving for BBQ seafood gets to you.

Barcelos Chicken

Location: Vivocity

Food: The food here is similar to Nando's. The marinated chicken has several degree of spiciness...Lemon peri (very lemony), Peri peri and very peri. I had the peri peri chicken while hubby took the very peri. There is a slight difference. The very peri chicken does have a lingering hotness on your tongue.

Pictures will be uploaded soon.

Staff: You need to order at the counter and pay and then the food is served to you. The staff is ok and helpful. When they saw Anasofia was on my lap while I was eating, they asked if I wanted a baby seat.

Verdict: Ok but I am not a big fan. Still prefer Nando's chicken.

Charco's Flaming Chicken

Location: Blk 608 Ang Mo Kio Ave 5

Food: Here they serve great Australian food. I personally prefer the Portugese chicken but my sis prefer the Charco's chicken. The Portugese chicken has more flavour but there were times when we went that the chicken was overcooked. Anywho...they have a wide variety of salad with the egg salad being my favourite. The creme potato would taste better if it was a tad thicker. To me the ribs were a bit too sweet for my taste. Comparing the first few times we went there, the serving has gone slightly smaller, I guess to suit our Asian style. The first time I was there, the servings were huge just like what we had in Australia.

Chicken hotdot that Mia always has. The dog is super huge....

This is their sampler plate. It has the Portugese chicken, Charco's chicken, ribs, creme potato and one choice of their salad. If you are new here, this might be your order so that you can have a taste of all that they have.

Staff: The staff is ok. Some were friendly. You need to make an order at the cashier and pay first. Then they will send the food to you.

Verdict: Definitely recommended for those who love chicken.
